Dear Parents and Carers
Apologies for the weekly updates being a litte late this time around – it’s been another busy week!
1) Covid 19 Updates
A huge well done to everyone involved in the on site testing this week! Both staff and pupils have done tremendously well to become familiar with the testing process that is likely to be part of our lives for the foreseeable future at least.
School testing now only operates for pupils who are unable to test at home or for those who need to complete their final test, but we have given home kits out to everyone. There are letters on our website with further details and links to videos on our Facebook feed. Home tests should be taken on a Sunday and Wednesday evening to give coverage throughout the week. If you need support, please do not hesitate to contact us.
Finally on Covid, thank you to everyone for working so closely with us regarding isolation and PCR testing. It may be that we see a few more instances of this with PCR tests required as confirmation. We will continue to contact trace pupils carefully and only ask the smallest number possible to self isolate. As was the case earlier this week, if confirmatory PCR tests mean pupils can return, we will contact you as soon as possible.
2) Year 11
Thank you to everyone who joined the Year 11 Teams Live Event this week. If you werent able to, there is a streamed link on our Facebook feed and the Year 11 part of our website.
We have Parent Consultation Evening coming up this week, again using School Cloud – please do book appointments!
Year 11 have done really well this week as they continue to gather the evidence for their GCSE grades. Thank you
3) Comic Relief
Thank you to everyone involved in this, under slightly different circumstances than normal! The winning jokes are available on our Facebook feed and we raised money through a sweet sale
4) Vision, Values and Ethos
Our vision is to Act Wisely, Build Community, Help Others and underpinning this is the scripture that encourages us to treat others and we would wish to be treated (Matthew 7:12). Our values are kindess, community, wisdom, responsibility and sustainability. Our pupil ethos is Ready Respect Safe.
With all of this in mind, I am grateful for pupils:
– arriving to lessons puntcually with the correct equipment
– working hard in lessons and maximising learning time
– sticking to their allocated zones
– keeping our site clean – particularly our new playground areas!
– seeking the support of teachers at break times if support is needed
With a week and four days to go until the Easter break (Good Friday is 2nd April), I am pleased to remind you of our new staff starters who will be joining after Easter. They are:
– Mr Kinsey Head of Year 9
– Miss Paige Head of ICT
– Mr Oxborrow Vice Principal
I know that they will be welcomed by our community!
Finally this week, I would like to thank pupils and staff for their engagement in our collective worship prgramme. This is a new programme and is supported by local church leaders, in particular Ally Kay, Tom Coopey and James Menzies. The reflections undertaken this week about some really key topi, both biblical and modern day (The Last Supper and Modern Slavery) really show how we are considering deep issues of human nature and social justice.
With prayers and blessings for a restful weeked
John Cornish, Principal
