Welcome to a new idea – my Principal’s blog for All Saints CE Academy.
With the events of this week, I thought it would be useful to trial a new method of communication so I can communicate directly with parents on a weekly basis. Constructive feedback is welcome but I will not be able to respond to everyone immediately! Urgent concerns should be addressed to the office as normal for attention.
It has been a busy week returning to school after half term this week. With the concerns about coronavirus being understandably current in everyone’s minds, please be reassured that we have followed all of the government advice every step of the way. All students who have expressed concern have been supported by NHS 111 advice and all self-isolation measures have been followed. Others have been advised by GPs and 111 to return to school because the symptoms are NOT coronavirus.
As a parent myself receiving similar updates from my children’s schools, I do understand the concern that is facing communities up and down the country at the moment. It is a global challenge and it can seem overwhelming but working together as community will be so important in helping us all stay safe.
We currently have had confirmation that one student who has been tested has received a NEGATIVE result.
I will write again as soon as possible with the results of the tests carried out on TWO further students.
Thank you for feeding back your preferred methods of communication this week and I’m sorry there was a problem with our website. This was due to sheer demand on the system at the time.
Beyond the main news story of the week, there are some other highlights I would like to draw your attention to:
Firstly, well done to our Year 8 Football team who won 7-2 against Beaminster this week. A windswept picture can be found at https://twitter.com/PE_Saints/status/1232583699356684288! Well done, Tom, as man of the match!
Secondly, I have welcomed all students back this week in Years 7-9 in year group worships this week to outline my expectations and also our ethos of “Ready, Respect, Safe”. Please help us by reminding your children to wear the correct uniform, to walk (not run!) in corridors and be ready to learn lesson in, lesson out.
We have also progressed our vision work – thank you so much for your contributions to this. We will be surveying all students, parents, staff and governors on what our final vision statement will be very soon but the ideas of developing community, gaining wisdom and helping other people will figure highly. Again – a formal survey will be sent out next week.
Year 11 Mock Exams continue next week. Students have responded really well this week – thank you Year 11 and do continue the revision! Wednesday is our night for core English and Maths with further details on the web. Pizza is there for those attending both sessions!
We have had Year 10 immunizations also today and we have Sports Relief coming up soon.
Two final matters, please, for your information. Firstly, we are looking to secure sponsorship through FASA for outdoor seating. If you may be able to help in any way, please contact the office. Finally, all students who cycle or scoot to school must wear helmets. Safety is paramount in this area, so please do support us by checking they have a helmet with them at all times.
Wishing you a restful weekend.
