Dear Parents & Carers, Pupils and Staff
Another week has flown by – welcome to the weekly round up
Schools have very much been in the press this week in terms of isolation and pupils missing out on education. I’m pleased to say that so far we have not reported any cases since the return but it is important that we keep on being sensible – keeping distance where possible, covering faces in crowded areas and washing hands
If we do detect any cases we will let you know as soon as possible and work at a detailed level to identify those pupils and staff who must isolate. We will try to avoid isolating large groups of pupils where possible
2) Sports Day
Thank you to all of the work being done by the PE team led by Mr Hyde for this – there was certainly a really positive buzz in the South Corridor today when the selection notices went on display!
I’m sorry but there was a mistake in the original email and I am pleased to confirm that this is definitely taking place on Thursday 8 July NOT Wednesday.
Pupils – please your wear All Saints PE kit and remember: sunscreen, water bottle, sun hat. (The last three apply to staff too!)
3) Uniform, mobile phones and jewellery
Please remember that hoodies are not part of the uniform – we are confiscating too many of these at the moment and need pupils to leave them at home.
Mobiles must also be switched off in bags once pupils enter the gate until the final bell of the day.
I realise that with the face mask position as was, some pupils have had nose piercings done. These are not permitted, though and a clear plastic retainer must be worn until the piercing has healed and can be left at home. Again, pupils should please leave these at home.
4) Personal Development and Enrichment Programme
Please note the change of date on the Year 7 Disco – this is now taking place on 8 July 6pm – 8pm for Year 7.
My Sister Sadie will be going ahead as per the letter on our website for our Drama production in a socially distanced, outdoor setting.
Thank you to Mr Rich for sharing details of the PGL visit with Year 7 today. This is a residential visit for Year 8 that we hope to run next year all things being equal in terms of covid.
Also, Mr Butcher will soon be talking with Year 10 & Year 9 about the Duke of Edinburgh award – please do sign up if you are interested in this!
Finally in this regard, thank you to Year 7 who have expressed an interest in the Salisbury visit – Mrs Randell and the RE team have now added an extra day to this programme!
5) End of Year Assessments
Really well done to everyone involved in the end of year tests. These have gone really smoothly and I do appreciate that they have come at the end of a busy and tiring year. Teachers will now assess these and complete feedback tasks as soon as possible before releasing the final grades in a couple of weeks’ time
Finally, I hope you and families enjoy a restful and enjoyable weekend.
Thanks as ever for your support
Mr J Cornish
