Dear Parents and Carers
Welcome to the weekly informal round up.
I am pleased to see so many students wearing PE jumpers this week – they really do look smart and students seem to have taken to them positively. Please do spend a moment reading my uniform letter here: https://allsaints.dorset.sch.uk/download/uniform-letter-october-2020/?wpdmdl=6809&refresh=5f80d08e57b2d1602277518
Going forward, please please please can I ask for your support in ensuring students wear a coat. This is so important with the wet and cold weather on the way. Today I had to remind students in Year 8 & 9 in particular about the need for this, so your input will be much appreciated.
I have also written about the concerns that have been raised about toilets here: https://allsaints.dorset.sch.uk/download/student-toilets/?wpdmdl=6810&refresh=5f80d08e551f41602277518 Your explicit support here is not only valued, but, I would respectfully ask, absolutely essential in improving things.
For those of you with children in Year 11, we hope to welcome you to our Year 11 Information Evening this coming week. It will be a very useful evening and will keep you updated with the latest developments. I understand from talking with Year 11 students that many are anxious at this time. Please be assured that we will work with them to help them be ready for the exams that are currently still scheduled for next year. The letter is here: https://allsaints.dorset.sch.uk/download/year-11-info-evening-2020-21/?wpdmdl=6811&refresh=5f80d08e52a4c1602277518
With two weeks to go until the half term break, I would like to ask everyone to talk with your children about the need for calm movement about the site. After six months off school and with the wind driving in on some days, we have had some rather rumbustious breaks and lunches. Next week I will talking with students about the need for fantastic WALKING, not unnecessary running! Your help in ensuring movement is calm, orderly and safe would be much appreciated.
Finally, I do understand that there are anxieties about Covid in the local area but I would like to reassure you all that currently, every test we have received has been negative and that we are doing everything we can to follow the measures imposed by Government.
I’m sorry that this means the windows are open rather more than we would like at this time, but it is an important part of the control measures that we have in place. We have turned on the heating earlier than normal and will respond to students sensitively to get this right.
In terms of the broader picture on Covid, please do send your children into school unless they are unwell. Our attendance is slightly above national average but I’d like it to be well above this if possible. If we all remember “Hands, Face, Space” and the need for physical distancing (social distancing sounds so impersonal and as if we must lose our social connection which I don’t think we should!), then we will keep one another safe. Please do not hesitate to send your child in with their own bottle of hand sanitiser should you wish to.
Finally, finally (yes it really is a Friday!!), If you would like to watch our Open Evening video (and share with your friends if possible), please click here (ignoring the ridiculous still image You Tube has generated!):
Many thanks for all that you are doing to support the work of All Saints.
With every blessing!
John Cornish, Principal
