Good evening everyone…
A return to school means of course, a return to the informal weekly round up in my Principal’s blog. If you prefer the formal version, please do read my letter sent earlier here: https://allsaints.dorset.sch.uk/…/principals-letter-first…/…
Above all, I hope you and your family are well. This week has been a busy and exciting one as we all have returned to school after so many months. That positive step must, however, be tempered with caution when we consider that virus cases are rising and we have seen more areas of the UK have local restrictions imposed this week.
There have been lots of positives this week. Students have been overwhelming positive. Right from Year 7 who had a very curtailed induction programme making sense of a new, larger and busy site, through to Year 11 who have returned with a clear determination to catch up and prepare for their GCSEs in this, their final year, each year group has begun well. Parents and carers if I could ask that you talk with your children about their week, I’d be grateful. If there are things we have missed, please let us know – our overriding priority at the moment is to have every student feeling positive about school. Your support with ensuring students use their designated entrance and avoid walking through other year group zones would be appreciated.
My staff team also deserve a big “thank you” this week also. They have walked collectively well into the hundreds of kilometres as they adjust to moving around the site so we can keep children in year group bubbles. Like me, they have enjoyed having young people back in the building and working with them to once again re-start education. Colleagues – please do enjoy a rest this week end and come back recharged again next week!
Finally (I will keep it short this week due to the long formal letter), I’d like us all to remember the need to look after ourselves and one another at this time. The “Hands, Face, Space” government message is a simple one we can all hold onto – handwashing, face coverings and social distance are they things we all need to excel in at this time.
I shall leave you with a piece of scripture from the gospel according to John… All Saints’ former vision…in which Jesus promises “life to the full”… This week has certainly been a full one, flying by in a flash! Although we have a renewed vision, this promise will always be important to us, and although we are facing a time of uncertainty with further restrictions on the horizon next week, I hope that you can draw comfort from this and hold onto a vision of a time in the future when these the challenges we face will have been fully overcome.
Have a great weekend
