Another busy term in the Performing Arts and Music Departments has culminated in a fantastic performance of ‘The Wizard of Oz’ on the 1st, 2nd and 3rd July 2015.
A slightly different approach this year, combining the Year 10 Performing Arts GCSE project with the School Show, has resulted in the most phenomenal effort from our largest group of contributing pupils to date. Everything was organised by our pupils, who ably took ownership of advertising, lighting, sound, costume, make-up, and of course the amazing acting, singing and dancing. We also had two different casts performing on different evenings in order to maximise the opportunities available to our many talented students.
The strong positive ethos of our school was clearly evident in every aspect of this production – volunteers from the local community, parents, friends and many ex-pupils joined together to produce a fantastic orchestra and a stunning set. We worked with local primary schools in a series of practical workshops, and were delighted to then see so many attending the evening performances and be able to join in with the singing and dancing. A special afternoon matinee for Holy Trinity Year 5 pupils was also thoroughly appreciated and enjoyed by all. DVD’s of our performances will be available to purchase from the school in September, if you were unlucky enough to miss the live show. As always, thanks to all involved – in particular our endlessly enthusiastic and committed cast.
