Our Year 11 Geography students visited Swanage to collect primary data for their fieldwork investigations last week. Land use surveys were used to calculate the percentage of businesses in the town who rely on tourism. Students will use this information to assess the impact of tourism on the local economy.
In the afternoon, students walked the length of Swanage Beach measuring the amount of sediment piled up against the groynes, this will allow them to reach conclusions about the impact of the groynes on longshore drift in the Bay.
The sun shone, useful data was collected and lunchtime provided the opportunity to take samples from some of the many fish and chip shops in the town centre!
Great work from our Year 11 students.
